What’s In It? Phthalates, parabens, Triclosan… Coconut oil, turmeric, sandalwood…

Which would you prefer?

In contrast to many hair and skin care products, our products do not have any of the chemicals that are mired in controversy about their toxicity:

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, added to make a lot of lather and foam, is a skin irritant
  • Parabens, added to give long shelf life to skin and hair care products have shown up in some breast cancer tissue, entering via the skin, rather than through ingestion. Studies show that they promote estrogen-like activity in lab animals.
  • Triclosan, added to give anti-bacterial properties is linked to increase in ant-biotic resistance and drug-resistant bacteria
  • Phthalates added to carry fragrances are linked to increased risk of abnormal development in male fetuses and baby boys.
  • Though the negative impacts of these chemicals have not been proven without a shadow of doubt, we believe it is better to find safer alternatives. We use Indian herbal extracts such as turmeric, cinnamon, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, rose, sandalwood, and tea tree. Their extracts, when distilled, are potent enough to act as natural antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial agents.
